Guesthouse, Kathu

A guesthouse pool in Kathu, taken out of its old blue tiles and renewed together with the terrace around it.

Location: Kathu, Phuket, Thailand
Completed: 2021
Type: Renovation
Our role: Pool renovation: the old tiles and dolphin mosaic removed, a new finish, cracks in the overflow repaired, and the area around the pool renewed
Finish: PebbleCrete Classic Cool Blue · PebbleCrete Glass Andaman Blue
Applied by: Pebble Pools

The work behind the setting.

The pool had a tiled finish with a dolphin set into the floor. The tiles came off, the floor and walls were prepared, and the pool was refinished in PebbleCrete Classic Cool Blue and PebbleCrete Glass Andaman Blue.

Cracks in the overflow were repaired, and the area around the pool was renewed at the same time, so the pool now sits in a light, open terrace with the overflow channel running along its edge.

The photographs follow the work from the old tiled pool through the strip-out and the application to the finished pool by day and at night.

Sample images are illustrations. They give a general idea of colour, texture and particle size and show the finish wet; the sample triangle represents about 12 cm of surface. PebbleCrete is made from natural stone and glass and is applied by hand, so colour and the mix of particles vary from batch to batch and from pool to pool. Lighting, screens, water depth and surroundings also change how a finish looks. These images are not a substitute for a physical sample. Always confirm your choice with a current physical PebbleCrete sample, viewed wet. By agreement and at extra cost, we can make an on-site mock-up (test panel) before work starts for you to approve. The finished surface should be judged against the approved mock-up and physical sample, not against the images on this site.
