The work behind the setting.

The pool was extended, so the existing custom-mix finish came off and the pool was refinished throughout, together with the coping. Inside, the pool is PebbleCrete Supreme White Halo with extra mother-of-pearl accents. The coping, the shallow ledge, the jacuzzi and the seating are PebbleCrete Glass Raindrop.

The old steps and the old built-in seats, which made the pool smaller, were demolished and the pool was extended. New compact steps were built, and the extension added a shallow ledge with an air-massage field that is switched on remotely from a phone app. The overflow was made larger and symmetrical, and the balance tank was rebuilt. Its access hatch had been so large and heavy that it could not be lifted, so it was made smaller. The automatic top-up valve is now PVC instead of brass, because the brass valves kept breaking.

Beside the pool we built a rough black marble feature wall. Below the wall there is a planter, and below the planter a water curtain falls into the pool. Fibre-optic lighting sits in the pool and on the wall, and a projector on the roof can throw images onto the water. The old pool lights had been leaking: they were replaced with new flat lights, and the leak was closed.

The pump room was made smaller and the system was rebuilt, with a new filter filled with PebblePure glass filter media and a salt chlorinator.

Around the pool, the garden paths and terraces are finished in PebbleCrete Classic Fancy Grey, and the paths and steps are lit with fibre optics. The stairs up to the roof terrace are in PebbleCrete too, beside a wall finished in PebbleCrete Glass Nightfall Pearl, made entirely of iridescent black glass beads.

The work at this villa was not only outdoors. The kitchen was finished in PebbleCrete Supreme White Halo and the outdoor kitchen in PebbleCrete Classic Black Granite.
