Acrylic and glass pool walls and underwater windows
Pebble Pools builds transparent pool walls and windows for villas and hotels in Phuket and across Thailand. We work with specialist manufacturers and with a licensed structural engineer who is our partner.

Transparent walls, windows and floors
A transparent panel lets you see into the pool from the side or from below. It can make the pool part of the room beside it, or let guests sit at water level behind a clear wall.
- Acrylic or glass panels set into a pool wall
- Underwater windows into a room below or beside the pool
- A transparent section of pool floor, seen from the room underneath
- Sunken seating beside the pool with an acrylic wall at water level
Acrylic or glass
Both materials are used in pools, and each has advantages and limits.
- Acrylic is common for thick, curved and large panels. Its surface scratches more easily than glass, so cleaning needs care.
- Glass is harder to scratch. It is less common where a panel has to be very large, thick or curved.
- Both need an engineered frame, proper seals and a specialist manufacturer. Neither is an ordinary window set into concrete.
Structural design and suppliers
A transparent panel holds back the weight of the water behind it, and the concrete around it carries that load. The panel, its frame and the surrounding structure are designed by the licensed structural engineer who is our partner.
We have suppliers for both acrylic and glass panels, and experience of building them into pools. We coordinate the engineer and the manufacturer with our own work on the shell, the waterproofing around the frame and the finish. The material is chosen with you, the engineer and the manufacturer once the size, shape and position of the panel are clear.
New pools and existing pools
A panel is easiest to plan into a new pool from the design stage. The structure, the room beside or below and the access for installation can then be designed around it. Adding a window to an existing pool means cutting into the shell. The engineer first checks whether the structure allows it, and the pool is drained for the work.
- New pool: panel position, frame and structure designed together with the pool
- Existing pool: a structural assessment before anything is agreed, then draining for the work
- Lighting near the panel or in the room beside it, with the electrical work carried out by a licensed electrician
What to send us
Send us a few details so we can review the idea with our engineer partner.
- Drawings or sketches of the pool and the room beside or below it
- Photos of the site or the existing pool
- Where you want the panel and from which side it will be seen
- The property location and whether the pool is new or existing
Questions we are asked
Which is better, acrylic or glass?
Neither is better in every case. Acrylic is common for thick, curved and large panels. Glass is harder to scratch. The choice depends on the size, shape and position of the panel, and is made with the engineer and the manufacturer.
Can you add a window to our existing pool?
Sometimes. It depends on the structure of the shell and what is on the other side. The licensed structural engineer who is our partner assesses it first, and the pool is drained for the work.
Who designs the structure?
The licensed structural engineer who is our partner designs the opening, the frame and the surrounding concrete. A specialist manufacturer makes the panel, and we build the pool around it.
