Pebble Pools applies flexible acrylic coatings of the kind used on sports courts to paths, terraces and areas around pools in Phuket and across Thailand. It is a way to renew a worn surface without breaking it out.

When a path or terrace has worn out
Polished concrete around pools and along garden paths looks clean when it is new. Over time it wears, stains and can become slippery when wet. Breaking it out and laying a new surface is noisy, dusty and expensive, and the house or hotel has to live with the work.
A coating over the existing surface is another way. Where the base is sound, it renews the look and feel of the area without demolition.
A flexible coloured coating with texture
We use flexible acrylic coatings of the kind laid on sports courts. You choose the colour to suit the house and garden. Sand of different grades gives the surface its texture, from fine to coarser.
This coating is different from the PebbleCrete finishes we lay in pools and on decks. We advise which suits each area.

Checking the surface first
The coating goes over a sound, prepared base. Before we quote, we look at the existing surface for cracks, loose or hollow areas, damp coming up from below and places where water stands after rain. Damaged areas are repaired first. Where the base is not suitable, we tell you and suggest another approach.
How the work is organised
The area being coated is closed until the coating can be walked on. Around a pool, we protect the water and the coping, and the pool can usually stay filled. Outdoor coating needs dry weather, so in the rainy season we plan around the forecast. The programme is agreed for the individual project.

Questions we are asked
Do you have to break out the old concrete?
Not where the existing surface is sound. The coating goes over it after preparation. Cracked or loose areas are repaired first.
How coarse is the textured finish?
That depends on the grade of sand. We show you samples so you can see and feel the texture before choosing.
Can we choose the colour?
Yes. The coating is coloured to your choice, and we make up samples so you can see the colour on site.
Can it be used right up to the pool edge?
Yes, it is used on areas around pools. We plan the line where it meets the coping at the inspection so the edge looks neat.
